Here’s a bit more on my personal background:
- I grew up on Peaks Island, an island about 2.5 miles off the coast of Portland, Maine. I lived here from age 8 until high school. (Here’s a map of the area).
- I went to high school at Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine.
- After four years in the tundra that is Bethel, I decided to go somewhere warm for college. I found Emory University in Atlanta, where I earned a BA in political science (with a minor in Russian Studies). I was active in the co-ed service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega (Facebook page) and I worked on The Emory Wheel, the school’s student-run, volunteer newspaper.
- I lived in Atlanta for about 10 years.
- In 2004, I returned to New England. I lived for a couple years in W. Hartford, CT (while producing TV news at the NBC owned-and-operated station, WVIT).
- In 2007, I moved to Boston, where I now live (in Jamaica Plain).
